The 1604 high performance cartridge seal is designed for difficult applications where high temperature products are being handled that tend to carbonise when coming into contact with atmosphere. It is also stationary mounted a feature that allows the seal to additionally handle high speeds, thermal growth and shaft to seal chamber
misalignment.
The cartridge incorporates a steam flow guide that directs steam along the bore of the bellows past the face and out to
drain. This feature is very effective in cleaning any carbonised hydrocarbons from the bore of the seal and around the running faces in addition to
cooling/ warming the process fluid making it easier to seal.
In the standard cartridge this steam and any leakage is contained by a segmented carbon close clearance throttle
bush. For more toxic or flammable / explosive products the High Temperature Emission Containment Seal can be substituted for greater
safety. Non standard options are double ply bellows for greater pressure capability and bellows
strength. Replacement of the high temperature packing with O rings when more suitable for a particular
application. The seal and seat are interchangeable allowing the cartridge to be converted from stationary to rotating bellows if considered to be
necessary.
