SM motors Series consist of three-phase asynchronous electric
motors with power range between 0,09 kW and 45,0 kW while the
motor frame is from 56 up to 225.
The basic construction is closed, fan cooled and IP 55
enclosure rating.
SM series motor is able to properly run under overload
conditions thanks to a high thermal reserve; the insulating
materials are class F as standard (Class H on request).
The efficiency standard is EFF2 or EFF1 (on request).
SM series motors are suitable to be supplied by inverter.
The motor is provided with a top insulation system between
windings, high level rotor balancing and double rubber screen
bearings (2RS).
The frame is made of aluminum alloy up to 132 frame size and
of cast iron for bigger sizes.
Shields and flanges are made of aluminum up to 90 frame size
and of cast iron up to 225 frame size.
SM series motors are provided with an hexagonal hole at the
N-Drive end in order to allow a manual shaft rotation with an
Allen key.

Main special executions: SMI: built-in inverter motors, SAE SAEAV built-in encoder motors with optional servo-fan, SMPV fly-wheel motors for progressive start and stop SMSV double auxiliary ventilation motors
Other special executions
Non-standard shaft or flange
Special Voltage windings
Thermo-protectors
Anti-condensation heaters
Sensor bearings
Class H insulation material
Special environment execution (Wash-down, Marine, Tropical) |

MOTOR CHALLENGE
MGM Electric Motors joined as an endorser the “Motor Challenge”.
The Motor Challenge Programme is a European Commission voluntary programme (launched in February 2003) through which industrial companies are aided in improving the energy efficiency of their Motor Driven Systems.
The Challenge focuses on Compressed Air, Fan and Pump systems, for which it has been demonstrated that there exists a large technical and economic potential for energy savings.
Reducing the energy consumption of electric motor driven systems, which account for up to 30% of all electricity used in European Union, is among the priorities of European Union “Intelligent Energy for Europe” Programme.
Examples from the field have shown that from 30% to 50% of electricity used for pumps, compressor or fans could be saved through improved operations and maintenance or by investments in energy efficient electric motor systems.
In most cases, such actions are not only profitable, but also maintain or improve production quality and reliability!
Refer to European Commission internet site for further information on this
programme.
According to the agreement between European Commission and
CEMEP (European Committee of Manufacturers of Electrical
Machines and Power Electronics) motor defined as totally
enclose fan cventilated (normally IP54 or IP55) 3-phase Ac
squirrel cage induction motors in the range 1.1 kW up to 90 kW
having 2 or 4 poles, rated for 400V 50Hz line, S1 continuous
duty in standard design are grouped in 3 different efficiency
classes designated as EFF3, EFF2 and EFF1 and labelled
accordingly.
On average an EFF1 motor reduces energy losses by up to 40%.
On EFF1 motors are normally used better and more materials. An
EFF1 motor work normally at a lower temperature and this
increases the lifetime and the overload capabilitiy of the
motor.
MGM manufactures EFF1 and EFF22 class motors.
Save and protect the environment!
