R-modyn   Overview General description Technical data overview Customer benefits Typical applications  General description R-modyn are rolling mill motors and are used worldwide in the metals industry in rolling mills.Tailored to address particular customer requirements, they are used as main drives in almost all rolling applications and all rolling mill types – in five different types of construction. Their extremely high smooth running properties and dynamic performance play a decisive role in achieving maximum product quality – even at high power ratings. Their range of power ratings extends from 0.5 MW up to 16.5 MW at speeds of between 20 and 1500 rpm. For the typical requirements in the rolling mill area – wide speed control range with a constant maximum power – R-modyn motors can provide up to 250% rated torque over the complete speed range without requiring any special measures. The synchronous motors – with cylindrical rotor – can even withstand the highest forces, surge loads and step-like load changes. In spite of the enormous loads, the motors have a high speed stability and extremely low torque ripple. With 30 to 2460 kNm, the converter-fed motors also cover a wide torque range.
