Planetary servo gear units



PSC series
The low backlash PSC planetary servo gear units are designed for the 30 to 305 Nm torque classes. They were designed to combine the greatest possible flexibility and cost-efficiency because not every application requires high-performance components.
They provide a basis for diverse, dynamic and cost-optimized drive solutions.
The PSC planetary servo gear units are available in the following versions:
  • PSC = B5 output, smooth output shaft
  • PSKC = B5 output, with keyway
  • PSCZ = B14, output, smooth output shaft
  • PSKCZ = B14 output, with keyway

PSF series
The low backlash PSF planetary servo gear units are designed for the 25 to 3000 Nm torque classes. The permitted acceleration torques are significantly higher than these values.
Three output versions are available:

Helical-bevel servo gear units



BSF series
The low backlash BSF helical-bevel servo gear units are designed for the 40 to 1500 Nm torque classes. The permitted acceleration torques are significantly higher than these values.
These right-angle servo gear units are available in five output versions:
  • BSF: Solid shaft
  • BSKF: Solid shaft with key
  • BSBF: Flange block shaft (EN ISO 9409)
  • BSHF: Hollow shaft with shrink disc
  • BSAF: Hollow shaft with keyway (Shaft mounted gear unit)
All versions are equipped with a B5 mounting flange and optional foot mounting and torque arm. Because of this, these drive units can be optimally integrated into existing applications. The combination of a helical input stage and a hypoid output stage results in ratio ranges which can be covered by the single-stage bevel (wheel) and hypoid gear unit or by the single-stage helical-worm gear unit with high transmission quality. The circumferential backlash remains constantly low throughout the gear unit’s service life.

Accessories and options for servo gear units and servo gearmotors
Motor adapter

The EPH motor adaptor for planetary servo gear units and EBH motor adaptor for ­helical-bevel gear units can be used to connect all commercial servomotors in a simple and time-efficient manner to servo gear units from SEW-EURODRIVE.

Reduced backlash

Optional for planetary servo gear units and helical-bevel servo gear units. The circumferential backlash of these gear units is considerably less than that of the standard ­versions so that positioning tasks can be solved with great precision. The circumferential backlash is specified in angular minutes [ '] in the technical data.

Minimized circumferential backlash

Optional for planetary servo gear units. The circumferential backlash of these gear units is reduced even further than that of the reduced backlash version and therefore allows for even greater precision when performing positioning tasks.

PSC series planetary gear units
Thanks to its high degree of flexibility and variability, the PSC gear unit series offers economic solutions for many applications. Combined with drive electronics from SEW-EURODRIVE, they provide customized, cost-optimized drive solutions that ensure a high level of process reliability in system operation. The variability in the tried and tested modular system allows for simple integration into existing automation systems.

Reduced backlash vertical gear units / gearmotors
Helical gear units, parallel shaft helical gear units, and helical-bevel gear units with reduced backlash can be supplied in all configuration types and for all mounting positions of standard SEW gear units from size 7 upward.

SEW gearmotors with reduced backlash gear units are available as planetary, helical, parallel shaft, and helical-bevel gearmotors in many application-oriented mounting positions.

They stand out because of their high level of efficiency and high-endurance gearing. They are designed as both asynchronous and permanent-field synchronous motors, and are operated with MOVIDRIVE® drive inverters or MOVIDYN® servo controllers.

CMP series
Precision, high dynamics and powerful performance in a particularly compact design – these are the defining characteristics of the new CMP servomotors. Thanks to their optimized length, these motors can be used in even the smallest of spaces. The new and highly dynamic servomotors round off the CMP servomotors offered by SEW-EURODRIVE in the lower torque range: Static torques from 7.1 Nm to 0.5 Nm are available with three CMP motor sizes and a total of eight motor levels. The latest in winding and magnet technology gives the CMP servomotors a low mass moment of inertia despite their optimized power performance. The result is a motor system with the highest possible dynamic characteristics.

Master modules
Master modules are the “brain” of each axis system. In master modules, axis functions are centralized and made easily accessible. This considerably reduces the time spent on operating and startup work. You can even fully dispense with connecting configuration interfaces etc. to the individual axes.

Axis modules communicate either directly with a controller via highspeed fieldbus gateways using the integrated system buses and fieldbus option cards or are controlled centrally via a master module. The modules have the following features:
  • Maximum rated power overload of 250% for maximum 1 s (max. 250 A); the overload time increases for lower overloads
  • Option to switch between a maximum of 3 motors with individual parameter sets
  • Integrated technology functions such as electronic cam, synchronous operation, touch probe, virtual encoders, electronic drive, event control, M/i characteristic curve compensation etc.

The supply modules provide the connected axes with power. They have a high overload capacity and regulate the regenerated power according to the unit version.

Switch-mode power supply module
As required, the DC 24 V SMPS provides MOVIAXIS® with power from the DC link with up to 600 W on a maximum of 3 channels. An external DC 24 V backup voltage can also be supplied.
DC link discharge module
This system component was developed to prevent very sensitive machine and plant components or tools/devices from colliding. In case of unintentional, complete power failure, the component discharges the DC link of MOVIAXIS®.
Capacitor module / Buffer module
This energy buffer can be combined as an option with the power supply modules to implement highly energy-efficient applications with fast cycle times and/or provide return movements for critical machine parts.
Axis option cards
The following option cards can be added to extend the functionality of the MOVIAXIS® axis modules:

The flexible and powerful MOVIDRIVE® inverters can be used for synchronous and asynchronous servomotors. The MOVITOOLS® operating software and standardized control programs (application modules) are available for easy and quick startup. ­MOVIDRIVE® sets new standards regarding user convenience and powerful application programming with the standard integrated IPOSplus® positioning and sequence control integrated as standard plus a number of available options.
